⚽ PICKS FROM THE PITCH
International Highlights
We’re on an International break, so we’ve mixed things up and chosen our picks from across the international pitches this week.
ENGLAND VS GERMANY
This was not the start to England’s Euro 2025 preparations that anyone was hoping for. A messy and defensively shambolic display leaves Wiegman’s predictable starting lineup under scrutiny. Loose passes, unforced errors and lack of organisation left the Lionesses looking chaotic.
There is perhaps a chance England underestimated Germany, a team firmly in transition with a new manager in Christian Wück, and a fresh crop of young players stepping into the shoes of recently retired legends such as Popp and Frohms.
Either way, there’ll be a lot of eyes on how Wiegman responds to England’s disappointing display in their next game against South Africa on Tuesday night. Especially with a friendly against Emma Hayes’s USA just around the corner.

EURO 2025 QUALIFIERS
Earlier this year the first 9 teams qualified for Euro 2025, the other 7 places are being competed for in the play-off phase. Round 1, which will be played across two legs, started on Friday with mixed results for the home nation teams:
Slovakia 2 - 1 Wales (Highlights)
Hungry 0 - 1 Scotland (Highlights)
Croatia 1 - 1 Northern Ireland (Highlights)
Second-leg games will be played this Tuesday. The winners of Round 1 fixtures after both legs will progress to Round 2, held between 27 November and 3 December.
INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLIES
Netherlands 15 - 0 Indonesia (Highlights)
Spain 1 - 1 Canada (Highlights)
USA 3 - 1 Iceland (Highlights) - Pretty much every goal here was a cracker. Special mention to Alyssa Thompson who bagged her first USWNT goal.
