ROUND-UP
England back on track
It’s been an interesting international break for England, which came with all the tinkering of tactics, players and positions that we’d expected. The Lionesses, who had already taken apart Austria in a 7-2 win, looked at ease against Italy, clearly enjoying the freedom of playing a match with nothing riding on it. The game ended 5-1, with three of England's goals coming from corners.Beth Mead looked as dangerous as ever, while Lotte Wubben-Moy got a well-deserved start and her first England goal. Grace Clinton unexpectedly started both games in this international window, which shows just how much depth England has in attack. It seems to be becoming clearer who Wiegman’s starting 11 are, just in time for the EURO 2025 qualifiers.
The qualifiers will run from April to October 2024, with the draw taking place this Tuesday (5 March) at Midday GMT. You can catch the live stream on UEFA.com. And here’s a helpful video if you need an explainer about how the new qualifying system works.

Watch the England v Italy highlights
Watch our favourite goals from the WSL this weekend:
ARSENAL V SPURS (1-0): Beth Mead got the assist as Alessia Russo scored in front of a sell-out North London Derby crowd at the Emirates.
CHELSEA v LEICESTER (4-0): Mayra Ramirez broke away on an incredible run, powering past Julie Thibaud before taking it around the keeper and tapping it in. Catarina Macario finally made her Chelsea debut following a long ACL recovery. She was on the pitch less than 6 minutes before scoring her first for the club.
WEST HAM v MAN UTD (1-1): Viviane Asseyi scored an outrageous goal for West Ham, chipping the keeper from the edge of the box after a brilliant three-pass move started with the keeper to set her up.
